Neymar sent warning by Santos chief over future at club
Neymar’s future with Santos remains up in the air as the Brazil star approaches the end of his current contract. Having recently recovered from a muscle injury, the 33-year-old finally returned to action in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Fortaleza in Serie A. Club chief Marcelo Teixeira wants the ex-Barcelona forward to stay with the club until the World Cup, but has warned the player that there are financial limits when it comes to agreeing a new contract.
Manchester United weigh up €50 million move for Roque
After leaving FC Barcelona, Vitor Roque has rediscovered his form in Brazil. After a difficult year in Spain with the Blaugrana, the forward decided to return to his home country by joining Palmeiras, a move that has proved to be the right one.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, and, according to Sports Illustrated (h/t SPORT), Manchester United are closely monitoring Roque and are reportedly prepared to make a €50 million offer.
In the event of a transfer, Barcelona still retain 20 per cent of the player’s rights, which would secure them a significant sum. If Manchester United or another Premier League club were to pay €50 million, Barcelona would receive €10 million.
Ten Hag being considered for shock Premier League return with Wolves
Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could be set to return to English football after being considered for the vacant role at a Premier League club. Ten Hag is a free agent after being sacked by Bayer Leverkusen in September, becoming the first manager in Bundesliga history to lose his job after two games. He was fired by United in October 2024, four months after signing a new contract.
Ten Hag is among the candidates to succeed Vitor Pereira at Wolves, according to The Athletic. Pereira was relieved of his duties after Wolves were thrashed 3-0 by Fulham on Saturday, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with no wins from 10 games. The Portuguese became Wolves coach last December and steered them away from the relegation zone thanks to a six-game winning streak, their longest ever run of victories in the Premier League. He signed a new, three-year contract in September but was sacked six weeks later.
Fiorentina set to sack Stefano Pioli
Serie A outfit Fiorentina are set to part ways with Italian head coach Stefano Pioli after their defeat to Lecce. The Viola are currently navigating profiles who could be potential replacements for Pioli and are assessing the financial impact of removing their head coach.
According to a report by TuttoMercatoWeb, the administrators are currently working on settling the financial aspect of the deal, which will be paid as compensation to Pioli. The former Al Nassr supremo was signed on a three-year contract with a salary of over €3 million net per season.
Napoli reignite Mainoo interest after De Bruyne injury blow
Napoli are reportedly plotting another transfer raid on Manchester, with United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo registering on their recruitment radar once more. The reigning Serie A champions were able to acquire Kevin De Bruyne over the summer, after seeing him leave City as a free agent, but the Belgian midfielder is currently ruled out with a thigh injury.
According to Sky Sports, Napoli’s interest in Mainoo is “for real”. They are reportedly working on a deal that could be pushed through in the January window. It is claimed that “the question of a departure is now more than ever on the table” when it comes to Mainoo and United.
Arsenal ready to hand Saka bumper pay rise amid transfer fear
Per Sky Sports, Arsenal have met Bukayo Saka's representatives on multiple occasions in recent times, which has made it clear that the Gunners are determined to retain their star player. The Premier League leaders want to wrap up the process as early as possible amid fears of transfer interest from across Europe. The club want to tie down Saka until the summer of 2030 and are planning to offer wages in the region of £12 million ($16m) gross per season. The report adds that Saka's renewal will reflect owner Stan Kroenke's confidence in the player and will also send a message to other clubs that Arsenal can hold onto their star players. The Gunners remain confident that Saka will agree on the new deal.
Man Utd and Aston Villa battle for AIK's Swedish teenage prodigy
According to FotbollDirekt, Manchester United have turned their attention to AIK Fotboll’s Kevin Filling and have added him among their latest targets. The 16-year-old forward has made headlines with both United and Villa having initiated contact with AIK for a potential deal.
Liverpool second choice?! Wirtz 'definitely' would have joined Real
Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro has suggested that Liverpool were not Florian Wirtz’s first choice when it came to a big-money transfer, with the Germany international favouring a switch to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The CEO has told Sport1 of Leverkusen’s efforts to keep the homegrown star on their books for at least 12 more months: “The Wirtz family and Florian knew that extending his contract was our top priority. We were very cautious with salaries during the summer transfers. But we would have been prepared to make an exception for Florian. We were prepared to push the boundaries and give everything to extend his contract. And for a while, it looked like it might work out. In the end, Florian decided for himself what he wanted to do. The parents are his advisors, and I think it’s good that they fully respect Florian’s wishes. He would definitely have gone to Madrid if Xabi had made the offer. But Xabi has less say at Madrid than he does with us. One of Alonso’s greatest strengths was his ability to work with our scouting department to define who needed to be in our team. Florentino Perez decides the transfers, not Xabi Alonso."
Roma initiate contact over possible move for Man Utd flop Zirkzee
Serie A giants AS Roma have initiated contact over a possible move for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch forward, who was once a menace at Bologna, has not been the same character in the Premier League, and reportedly has fallen out of favour in Ruben Amorim's setup, resulting in a lack of playing time.
According to Sky Sport, Zirkzee has informed his representatives to search for a club and ensure him a loan move in the upcoming January transfer window. Meanwhile, he has already garnered interest from two prominent heavyweights in the Serie A, a competition he bossed during his tenure at Bologna.
Saliba reacts to transfer link with Madrid
Arsenal's star defender William Saliba has finally reacted to his transfer link with Spanish giants Real Madrid, weeks after signing a new long-term Gunners contract.
Speaking to Le10 Sport, the French defender said: "Of course, it’s always tempting when a club like that tries to lure you, but for me, [my desire] was to stay at Arsenal. First, win trophies, before thinking about anything else."
Fiorentina set to sack Pioli
Per Fabrizio Romano, Serie A side Fiorentina are considering parting ways with head coach Stefano Pioli after their recent loss to Lecce in a league clash. Fiorentina are off to a disastrous start to the new season as they have failed to win a game in their first 10 outings and are now second from the bottom in Serie A.
Southampton sack Will Still after 16 games in charge
Southampton have sacked manager Will Still after just 16 games in charge, with the Championship promotion hopefuls languishing in 21st place. The 33-year-old managed only four wins during a torrid start to life back in England, and Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Preston proved to be his final match in charge as the Saints turn to interim boss Tonda Eckert.
Southampton have confirmed the departure of Still just five months after his appointment, bringing a swift end to his brief and turbulent spell at St. Mary’s. The 33-year-old, who joined the club from Lens in May, managed only four wins from 16 matches across all competitions, including just two victories in the Championship. A 2-0 defeat to Preston on Saturday, which was their fifth straight match without a win, proved to be the breaking point for the Saints' hierarchy.
Federico Chiesa transfer plans confirmed by Romano
Speaking on YouTube, Fabrizio Romano said: "It's been a strange start to the season for Chiesa, also because at the very beginning of the summer window, the plan was to leave, and then everything changed several times with Arne Slot and with the management.
"The desire of Federico Chiesa is to finish the season at Liverpool and then assess the situation in the summer. When Chiesa goes public and says 'I want to stay here, I want to compete for my spot', it's the reality. Chiesa wants to continue with Liverpool.
"Then, obviously, he wants to play - he needs to play - otherwise in January I would not be surprised if Italian clubs return to the table and try again to get Chiesa from Liverpool. They might try. But at the moment, the desire of Liverpool and Chiesa is to continue together. I don't think it's going to be an easy move in January, but interest remains and we have to follow the game time in the next two months."
Kane 'considering' Barcelona amid Bayern contract uncertainty
Harry Kane is considering a departure from Bayern Munich and could look to make a blockbuster switch to Barcelona. The English striker has been in ruthless goalscoring form this season and may look to experience a new league while he remains at the top of his game. Kane is mulling over the possibility of a new contract at the German giants, but his future remains in the balance.
Kane is contracted to Bayern until June 2027, but has a release clause in his deal that could allow him to leave the club for as little as £57 million (€65m) from next summer. There will no doubt be a number of Europe’s biggest sides chasing the goal machine’s signature and Barcelona have emerged as one of the leading contenders.
The Blaugrana will need a new striker to lead their forward line should Robert Lewandowski depart the club at the end of his contract, expiring in June 2026. According to SPORT, Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez is their top target, but he could prove too costly to take from the Spanish capital and bring to Catalunya. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland also appears beyond the financial muscle of cash-strapped Barcelona.
Barcelona make demand to Rashford in order to finalise permanent move
Marcus Rashford has made a sensational start to his Barcelona career, reigniting his form with 12 goal contributions in just 13 appearances since joining on loan from Manchester United. The 28-year-old has openly expressed his desire to make the move permanent, though reports have suggested that the Catalan giants are set to make demands to Rashford to complete the transfer.
Barcelona’s pursuit of a permanent deal for Rashford comes amid ongoing financial challenges that continue to shape their transfer policy. Despite their admiration for his impact, the club’s strict salary cap rules mean a permanent move hinges on the forward accepting a drastic wage reduction. Rashford currently earns over £300,000 a week at Manchester United, well above what Barcelona can accommodate under La Liga’s economic controls.
The Catalan giants, who have spent the last few seasons restructuring contracts and trimming their wage bill, see Rashford’s situation as a balancing act. Club sources have reportedly told SPORT that the transfer fee itself, believed to be around £30 million, is not an obstacle, but the issue lies in long-term affordability. Barcelona’s sporting department is keen to offer Rashford a multi-year deal to spread the cost, but that would require his full cooperation on salary adjustments.
O'Neil in line for stunning Wolves return
Wolves have sacked Vitor Pereira after a disastrous start to the Premier League season, and are now eyeing a shock reunion with Gary O’Neil, the man they dismissed less than a year ago. O’Neil, who guided Wolves to safety in 2023-24, could make a sensational comeback as the club’s hierarchy scrambles to keep the club in the top flight.
The dismissal comes just ten months after Pereira replaced O’Neil, with the club now considering reappointing the very man he succeeded. Per The Athletic, O’Neil remains highly regarded by Wolves’ owners Fosun for the work he did in stabilising the side during his first spell, guiding them to 14th place in 2023-24. Also in contention is former Wolves defender and current Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards, though his appointment would require compensation, while ex-Boro manager Michael Carrick is another name under consideration.
Wolves line up move to appoint Rodgers after sacking Pereira
According to multiple media reports, former Liverpool and Leicester City manager Rodgers is poised to make a comeback to the Premier League after three years, as Wolves are considering appointing the Irish manager as their next permanent head coach. Earlier this week, Scottish Premiership giants Celtic announced that Rodgers had tendered his resignation, news which raised eyebrows across Scottish football.
