Ajax remain the most decorated club in Dutch football history, boasting 28 Eredivisie titles since the league turned professional in 1956. However, their domestic dominance has waned in recent years. After claiming the 2021–2022 league crown, the Amsterdam giants have now gone three consecutive seasons without lifting the trophy. Last season, they fell just one point short of champions PSV Eindhoven, finishing as runners-up. Still, Ajax proved formidable at home, losing only once in 17 league matches at the Johan Cruyff Arena. This campaign, they have started solidly, collecting 11 points from five matches (three wins and two draws), with all three home games ending in victories.
Inter Milan, meanwhile, continue to stand tall in Italy. Last season, they pushed Napoli all the way, finishing second in Serie A with 81 points—just one shy of the champions. Inter also reached the 2024–25 UEFA Champions League final, though they were comprehensively beaten 5–0 by Paris Saint-Germain. Their Club World Cup run in June ended in disappointment as well, suffering an unexpected elimination in the round of 16 at the hands of Brazilian side Fluminense.
Inter were a strong side on the road last season, amassing 38 points away from home—only five fewer than at the San Siro. They lost just three times in 19 away fixtures, ranking among the league’s most reliable travelers. However, their current Serie A campaign has begun shakily. After a 4–0 opening victory over Torino, they slumped to back-to-back defeats against Udinese and Juventus, leaving them with just three points from their first three games and sitting 12th in the table.
In the betting market, Inter opened as -0.5 favorites, with some adjustments pushing the line to -0.75, signaling strong support for the Italian side. Squad value further highlights the disparity: Ajax’s roster is valued at €187 million, compared to Inter’s €707 million—a difference of more than threefold. On the European stage, Ajax exited the Europa League in the Round of 16 last season, while Inter reached the Champions League final, underscoring the gulf in class.
With greater squad depth, higher individual quality, and a proven track record in elite competition, Inter Milan appear well-positioned to secure victory despite Ajax’s home strength.
Prediction: Inter Milan to Win
