Man Utd & Amorim to prioritise move for England star over Baleba
According to a report from The i Paper, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is believed to be an admirer of England international Wharton. The report claims that the Portuguese has taken note of the 21-year-old's ability to consistently pass forwards and not sideways, piercing through opposition low blocks to launch Palace attacks. After joining the Eagles from Blackburn in 2024, Wharton has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League's best midfielders, playing a significant role in his side's victories in the FA Cup and the Community Shield - the first two trophies in the club's history.
'Unhappy' Zirkzee wants out of Man Utd in January
In a report from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Joshua Zirkzee has reportedly become frustrated at being used so sparingly by United head coach Amorim this season. All three of the 24-year-old's league appearances have come from the bench, while he was also a substitute in the Red Devils' penalty shootout defeat against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup in August. The Dutchman equally endured a difficult debut season at United following his move from Bologna in 2024, scoring just three league goals in 32 appearances as the club finished 15th under Amorim - their worst-ever Premier League finish.
Gerrard again becomes favourite for Rangers job despite snub
According to The Sun, there has been a twist in Rangers' manager hunt as Steven Gerrard has once again emerged as favourite to take charge at Ibrox Stadium, days after he pulled out of the race for the head coach's role. Gerrard urged to ignore cliche amid fresh Rangers links
Premier League legend Alan Shearer has urged Steven Gerrard to ignore an old football cliche after the Liverpool icon re-emerged as the favourite candidate to land the Rangers job.
Speaking to Betfair, Shearer said: "I don't know Steven's tax situation with him being back in the UK and he can only answer that. There is that 'never go back' saying but if he wants to get back to management, he knows what it's like up there, he's done it and been successful before. He's a huge name in football. I don't think Celtic are that great either. Hearts are top of the SPFL at the moment so that tells you that Celtic aren't a great team either. Steven, or whoever goes into that role may fancy their chances and say it's worth the opportunity and worth going up there to compete. Rangers are miles off it at the minute and it's no surprise that Russell lost his job. The fans were going mad up there and it's not nice to see because of the human behind it and at the end of it. That's what you have to think of but you also know the score when you go into management - if you don't win games, you'll get sacked. The Rangers job will be a brilliant one for whoever takes over."
Dele decision made by Wrexham as Rob and Ryan finalise squad
Dele's future has been the subject of plenty of speculation following his release from Serie A side Como in the summer. The former Tottenham man made just one appearance for the club, which resulted in a red card against AC Milan, but isn't thought to be ready to call time on his career just yet. Wrexham had been touted as a potential destination for Dele but that door has now closed on the 29-year-old. The Welsh side did have one spot left in their squad for the current campaign but have confirmed that has now gone to Rathbone, who is returning from a lengthy injury lay-off, leaving no place left for Dele, as reported by Wales Online.
